Empowering communities in need to flourish
commUnity+ has played a critical role for more than 40 years in supporting people and families to overcome hardship, disadvantage and marginalisation to live safe, fulfilling and prosperous lives. Based across Melbourne’s greater West and North regions, we have a particular focus on members of communities new to Australia, vulnerable children and women, and those who need a helping hand to achieve justice, fairness and social inclusion.
Government funding for our core programs and services is crucial, however it falls short of what is needed to respond to the diversity and complexity of community needs.
The commUnity+ Community Empowerment Fund aims to bridge the gap between government funding and community needs with programs and projects addressing the following key themes:
- Community empowerment: Community development and education projects co-developed with local communities to empower disadvantaged and vulnerable community cohorts
- Community safety: Projects focused on preventing and responding to family and gender-based violence
- Youth and family support: Working with families to promote young people’s safety and wellbeing to improve life outcomes through prevention and early intervention, including involvement in the criminal justice system.
All programs aim to promote social inclusion and enablement. commUnity+ delivers impact-focused and evidence-based services where we measure and evaluate all outcomes. Donations above $2 are tax-deductible.
