Annual General Meeting 2017

Vietnamese Lawyer Project

The Vietnamese community within the Brimbank local government area represents about 10% of the population. This community is isolated by language and cultural barriers that prevent many from accessing legal services. Research shows that a bilingual approach to service delivery is significantly more effective in providing legal information and advice to culturally and linguistically diverse clients.

New Chair Announced at commUnity+

Comm Unity Plus Services Ltd (commUnity+) has appointed Susanne Legena, current Acting CEO at Plan International Australia, as its new Board Chair. Her appointment was announced at the commUnity+ AGM in October 2017. Susanne replaces James McCarthy, who was Chair, overall, for 9 years

Annual General Meeting 2016

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2016 was held at the commUnity+ HUB in Deer Park on Thursday, 17 November. The AGM was attended by the commUnity+ board, staff and external stakeholders. Chairperson James McCarthy opened the evening by presenting the annual report 2015-16, which is now available for download on our website – https://www.comm-unityplus.org.au/about-us/annual-reports. Treasurer Sejla Kadric presented a summary of the financial performance of the year 2015-16, followed by the official proceedings in accordance with the constitution. We welcome two new board members to the commUnity+ board – Nella Bucherri and Susanne Lagena.

Help make a difference to a child’s life

Many children who go to Primary schools in Australia come from families who do not have English as their first language. In many cases, the parents do not speak English at all and as a result, find it hard to understand and engage in their children’s school activities.
