Volunteering

About Our Programs

commUnity+ offers a wide range of programs that have great volunteer opportunities. If you’re interested in community legal,  Neighbourhood House activities or need a student placement in social work, then commUnity+ might be the right place for you!

Community Legal:

Brimbank Melton Community Legal Centre (BMCLC) is currently operating two volunteer programs.

Intake Volunteer Program

BMCLC is now inviting applications from law students and office/business administration students who wish to volunteer through this Program and contribute to our Centre’s important service delivery.

As a volunteer with the Centre’s Intake Volunteer Program, you will assist with our newly revamped intake system by engaging with new clients and recording key client information for the Centre’s lawyers. This is a frontline role and is suitable for students who wish to develop important experience in interacting directly with vulnerable members of the community, identifying legal issues and using legal software, as well as those who wish to develop knowledge and understanding of the operations of a Community Legal Centre.

All volunteers must commit to a minimum of one day each week for a period of six months. Please use this Application Form to submit your interest or contact: legal@comm-unityplus.org.au

African Australian Assistance Project Volunteer Program

BMCLC is now inviting applications from law students and recent law graduates to volunteer with our Centre’s African Australian Assistance Project. This is a project funded by the Victorian Legal Services Board Grant Program that aims to provide legal assistance and community capacity building activities to young African Australians in the Brimbank and Melton regions

Please note that applicants for this volunteer program must possess knowledge and understanding of the African Australian communities in Melbourne’s West

All volunteers must commit to a minimum of one day each fortnight for a period of six months. A detailed Position Description for volunteer roles through this Program can be found here.

Neighbourhood House Activities:

Neighbourhood House is in need of some friendly and efficient adult volunteers to help assist us with our programs. With your help and support, we can run our activities with ease and give our community more opportunities.

Student Placements – Social Work:

The Children’s Contact Service Centre, allows social work students to have their University placements at our centres. During the placements, students will be given the opportunity to enhance their administration skills and learn about how our contact centre conducts changeovers and supervised visits. Students will also have the chance to work with families with diverse, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds who require varying levels of support.

If you are interested in volunteering, please submit your details using the form below. For further queries, contact the People and Culture team at jobs@comm-unityplus.org.au.
