Huge congratulations to John Kon, who received the Professional Achievement award at the inaugural Victoria University (VU) Student Leadership and Alumni Awards last night.
Since 2019, John has passionately advocated for communities experiencing marginalisation and disadvantage. Starting his legal career at a private law firm and then Victoria Legal Aid, John now works at Brimbank Melton Community Legal Centre (BMCLC) auspiced by commUnity+, helping clients with a range of legal issues and leading the African Australian Assistance Project to improve access to justice.
Receiving the award, John said: “I am incredibly honoured to be part of BMCLC. This recognition is dedicated to all my colleagues at BMCLC and commUnity+ for providing the opportunity to grow and to use my legal expertise for the betterment of our community. I am so grateful for this award, it has inspired me to look beyond and above the horizon, thanks to Victoria University for this prestigious recognition.”
