commUnity+ Welcomes Funding for Legal Projects in the West

14 December 2017

Rachna Muddagouni, the CEO of commUnity+, welcomed the Department of Justice Community Legal Centre funding announcement. “This funding will allow BMCLC to continue working on three major projects for the next 2 years”, she said.

The three major projects of Brimbank Melton Community Legal Centre(BMCLC) include:

  • Continuing the Vietnamese-speaking community lawyer project;
  • Continuing the family violence program at the Darley Maternal Child Health Centre and the Sunshine Magistrates’ Court; and
  • Continue to develop the Health Justice Partnership, established with Western Health at Sunshine Hospital. This program has allowed the organisation to support vulnerable clients and make progress with early intervention.

These legal projects will support the centre to strengthen its programs and play a major role in preventing family violence in the community.

Read how BMCLC was instrumental in helping Mina (one of the numerous vulnerable clients who come to BMCLC for help) achieve positive outcomes.
